Barron's Summary: positive on telecoms BCE and MBT; positive on CHRW; Cautious on Indian outsourcing firms
08.03.2010 08:52 Monday
- Positive article on Canadian telecom BCE, where management has kept wire-line margins up with cost cutting. The stock features a healthy dividend yield and the shares could rise 10% over the next 12 months, says Barron's.
- Positive mention of Russia's largest cellphone operator, Mobile TeleSystems (MBT). Though cellphone penetration is over 130% in Russia, MBT can continue to grow by providing new services like broadband internet. Assuming the Russian economy rebounds and the ruble stays steady, the stock could ring up a 25% gain over the next year, says Barron's.
- Positive feature on freight logistics services provider C.H. Robinson (CHRW). Its a "high-return, non-capital-intensive company" since it doesn't own any of the trucks, ships or warehouses along the logistics chain, but focuses on directing freight traffic. The stock could rise 50% in three years, Barron's predicts, as it moves back up toward historical multiples.
- Cautious article on Indian outsourcing firms Wipro (WIT), Tata Consultancy Services (TCS.IN), and Infosys (INFY). "Valuations of the stocks far exceed the companies' growth rates," says Barron's, and they could drop as much as 25% . Growing domestic and international competition and U.S. protectionism are all risks to the high multiples these stocks are carrying.
